The video was shot at Silverstone Racetrack in August 1986, for the BBC TV show 'Record Breakers'.
The trip to Silverstone was just part of the training, but this particular weekend had been chosen because Silverstone was hosting the annual Truck Racing competition. There were tens-of-thousands of visitors that weekend, and that made it a perfect place
to promote the Truck Push and raise sponsorship money.
A group of about 60 people had pushed the truck from Sheffield to Silverstone, a little over a hundred miles, taking 3 days to do so. It was a practice run that didn't go so smoothly; in the video you'll see someone wearing a neck brace and another with his arm in a sling.
These injuries had happened along the way and none of them inspire much confidence in our chances of success. It looks like the truck ran over them. And those 1980's Kajagoogoo haircuts...well, I won't even go there.
* PLEASE NOTE * The quality of the video has deteriorated during the 18 years it was on VHS tape, so the picture and sound quality are pretty bad. There's not a lot I can do to fix that !!
